BEING LESS THAN WE ARE

"If we will be quiet and ready enough, we shall find compensation in every disappointment."
~ Henry David Thoreau ~

I sometimes feel let down by people. I expect them to be other than they are- more noble, more loyal, more industrious, more sincere. And so, when they are small-minded, sloppy, lazy, and false, I feel stung and disappointed, as if it's personal to me, which, of course, it is not. Still, it does make me sad. We all have so much promise- unlimited promise! and so often, by our own error, or lack of belief, we fall distressingly short.

I accept that we are all human, and it's likely my expectations that need adjusting rather than the world itself.
