THE EGO TRAP

"True merit, like a river, the deeper it is, the less noise it makes."
~ Edward Frederick Halifax ~

My ego traps me in resistance. It makes me feel "right" in the face of everything in the world and in my current circumstance that I perceive as "wrong." It pretends to know best, and be certain of what is uncertain. It punishes me with it's discontented internal whining, and strengthens itself by becoming increasingly miserable.
Suffering at the hand of my ego is a choice though, thankfully, and by being aware of it in action, I can take the first step toward being free of it in the now.

I catch my ego hating and blaming, and choose loving-kindness instead.
