"Practice compassion."
~ Dalai Lama ~
Balance is compassion in a way. It's understanding and appreciating two seemingly opposed influences, and bringing them to a space where unity is possible. We tend to prefer skewed thinking- all one way or the other. But to maintain balance is far more interesting, and better pleasing to the senses. Think of a seesaw: to keep both ends suspended is a flowing ride of give and take, and to lose the opposition is to thud uncomfortably to the ground.
I maintain equilibrium by owning the opposites that exist in me and in the world.
