"Become the sky. Take an axe to the prison wall. Escape."
~ Rumi ~
We are so constrained by our desire to look good. There is tension in it- a lack of pure authenticity. It's as if we are filtered through our own self-consciousness, lacking relaxation, awkward in our own skin. And, generally speaking, it comes out most when we are meeting others for the first time. And it's exhausting. And it's uncomfortable. And it has a kind of shelf life beyond which we have to either get authentic, or escape. It's not sustainable to be fixed in looking good for too long a stretch. That's why we all need to get home at the end of the day and put on our jammies and let down our hair.
I learn to relax in the world so it's not so exhausting to be out and about.
