I often find myself wanting to please other people. I want them to be happy with me. So much so, in fact, that I would sooner sacrifice my own well-being for theirs. But this is foolish and unnecessary. There is a middle-ground that honors us both, and that's the one I need to find.
I don't have to throw myself under the bus as my default position. There's a way to accommodate others and honor myself at the same time.
