There's a world of things beyond the material that we can give: love, forgiveness, compassion and appreciation, to name just a few. And arguably these may be more meaningful than whatever we wrap up and put under the tree.
And we can give these things all year long, to ourselves as well as others. To give is to feel good. It reaches us beyond ourselves and lifts us to a higher plane.
