TIME FOR CHANGE

"We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance."
~ Harrison Ford ~

Change before its time is uncomfortable, and even a bit jarring, but change when we're ready for it is a breath of fresh air. It comes bearing life, and invigorates and refreshes our path.

I feel the amping up of life transitions and it excites me.

TAKE IT AS IT COMES

"What doesn't kill us makes us stronger."
~Friedrich Nietzsche ~

Facing what scares us is good for our souls. Resilient, courageous, adaptive, and tireless, we become more durable from what we go through. We become indomitable and wise.

I process my life however it comes, and proceed steadily, one little bit at a time.

GOING FOR IT

"To eat an egg, you must break the shell."
~ Jamaican Proverb ~

We are too quick to shrink ourselves, to sell ourselves down the river, tell ourselves all the reasons things won't work out, why even bother, and who are we kidding?
But maybe they will! We can set the wheels in motion and see if they find traction and grip. I'm tired of feeling ashamed for what I want to go for in my life, and tired of the naysayer energy. So starting now, and going forward, I commit to yaysayer energy instead.

Life is like a roulette wheel. We could just as easily land on black as we could on red, so why not give the wheel a spin?

THE BEAUTY OF POSSIBILITY

"Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?"
~ Frank Scully ~

When we are waiting to find out if something is going to play out or not, it's exciting... because it could play out. There's hope in the waiting. And especially if it's a long shot, it would be so affirming and thrilling if it did!
Once we know for sure one way or another, the feeling is entirely different. It's adjusting our mindset to absorb the disappointment or rallying our nerves to move forward. But when it's pure possibility and could go either way- ah! That is its own kind of beautiful time.

I enjoy the space of not knowing and delight in the fact that anything could happen.

THE IMPACT WE HAVE

"Example is the school of mankind, and they will learn at no other."
~ Edmund Burke ~

We don't realize who we touch or how we touch them- of the impact that we have and the memories we create. In some ways, we are not nearly as important as we think we are, and in other ways, we are hugely moreso.
Our energy affects those we encounter, for good or ill, and so do our words and our actions. So let's be mindful of that as we move about, and be our best self, whatever that looks like on any given day.

I behave mindfully, knowing that what I do affects those I encounter.

PLAN AND PURPOSE

"Do you see O my brothers and sisters?
It is not chaos or death- it is form, union, plan- it is eternal life- it is Happiness."
~ Walt Whitman ~

We learn through difficulty, and challenge strengthens us, so we need not worry or have regrets. All that happens is designed to enlarge us.

I trust my path.

WHAT WE CANNOT KNOW

"Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be."
~ Thomas a' Kempis ~

I think it's more helpful to be loving and compassionate with others than it is to tell them what they should do to fix themselves. We make our suggestions helpfully and hopefully, as if we are the sudden light in their dark situation. We enthusiastically report how our solution has worked for us, or for our neighbor, or for our distant friend. But feeling sure that it will work for the person in front of us who is suffering, without knowing anything really about their particular situation, is arrogant of us. How can we know without having walked a mile in their shoes?
Let's give people the dignity of having done their homework and paid their dues, of knowing more about their own struggles and ailments that they have lived with for years than we can possibly know or even begin to understand in a five minute conversation. Let's back off of our helpful suggestions, and simply listen and send love instead.

I share my experience and compassion with others, but don't peddle quick-fix solutions.
